This is the direction in which the photovoltaic (PV) panels are facing. The ideal orientation for panels is South as they will be exposed to the Sun for the
maximum length of time during daylight hours, although other orientations still produce considerable amounts of power and attract significant tariff income.
Don't worry if the roof on which you would like your PV system installed does not face directly South; a South East- or South West-facing 30 degree roof will only lose less than 5% in the sunlight shining on it.
