Q. How much do solar panels typically cost?
A. Solar panels can cost between £5000 and £14,000 to install dependent      upon the size of system required.

Q. How much income can I generate from installing solar PV generation?
A. Use our income calculator to see just how much income you could      generate by installing solar panels on your property.

Q. Do you install 'free' solar panels?
A. Please see our extended article on the right of this page.

Q. Do solar panels only work in sunny weather?
A. Solar panels generate electricity when the sun shines and when it
doesn't - even on cloudy days you will still generate some power.

Q. Do I need planning permission to install solar panels?
A. You don't need planning permission for most home solar electricity      systems, as long as they're below 4 kW in size and you don't live in either      a listed building or a conservation area.

Q. How much electricity could I generate for my own use?
A. A typical home solar panel PV generation system can produce around half     of the electricity that a household uses in a year.

Q. How long does it take to fit them?
A. This depends on the size of the system you have installed, but an      average system will take between 1 and 2 days to install.

Q. What kind of solar panels do you use.
A. We prefer to use BP Solar PV panels as we believe these are the best      product currently available in the sector.

Q. Is the Feed-In-Tariff guaranteed?
A. The scheme guarantees a minimum payment for all electricity generated      by the system, as well as a separate payment for the electricity exported      to grid. These payments are in addition to the bill savings made by using      the electricity generated on-site, are guaranteed for 25 years and are      index  linked and TAX FREE.

Q. Do I need to do anything once the solar panels are installed?
A. PV systems run independently. You will not notice any difference in your     electricity supply, only in your electricity bills!

Q. Will my solar panels stop working after a certain period of time?
A. Over time, panels do produce slightly less electricity; however 85% output      is guaranteed by the manufacturer even after 25 years, so they will be      generating significant electricity throughout the scheme as well as after.
