Under the Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) scheme, energy suppliers make regular payments to householders and communities who generate their own electricity from solar electricity (PV) panels. This is an index-linked payment guaranteed for 25 years and can add up to tens of thousands of pounds for larger photovoltaic systems. This calculation uses the current figure of 21.0p per kWh of solar electricity generation to produce the annual Feed-in Tariff payment.
The total energy saved figure is a combination of the feed-in tariff, export tariff and electricity saving components of the PV system's financial benefits.
